]]>According to a news report about prescription drug abuse, every nine minutes someone dies from prescription drug abuse, misuse or an accidental use. This is quite alarming. People are consistently trying to get the message across about the importance of safe use, storage and safe disposal of medications from your pharmacy. Safe use of the medication means only taking medication that was intended for you. It also means you shouldn’t take the medication any other way than the way it was prescribed

Another important safety note is keeping them in their original containers, not mixing medications. You need to focus on putting medications in a safe place and out of sight from others. You should not keep medications in bathrooms if you’re sharing a home. You can always keep them in a lockbox which is a bag with a key opener and a small lock on the end of it. Another option is getting a script safe box which can be bolted somewhere in your house to keep your medications away from young children, infants and house guests.

While you might not assume anything is going to happen with your prescriptions, especially in the comfort of your own home, things happen all the time. In fact, more accidents happen at home than they do anywhere else. Because of this, we need to be even more cautious of everything in our surroundings if we are to keep our loved ones safe and secure.

According to the recent reports, almost 80% of Colorado’s water has contaminants in it from prescription drugs that people flush down their toilets. That’s just one state. Can you imagine how much of our total water supply is contaminated because of people not throwing their unused prescriptions away properly? Doesn’t make you want to drink the water, does it? There are ways of correct disposal when it comes to your prescription medications.

Consider going to one of the take-back locations for prescription drugs that you are no longer using or want to dispose of. If you cannot find one of these websites or locations nearest your home, then you can actually put the prescription medications in a bag full of coffee grounds in a zip lock bag and put it out on trash day. Regardless of how you look at it, the toilet is not the place for your unwanted prescriptions to go. The next time you go to get rid of old medications, stop and think about whether you are really putting them where they belong.

]]>A woman in Massachusetts was hired by a marketing agency and she told them up front that she used medical marijuana for Crohn’s disease. At the time of employment, she never got any indication from the company that they had an issue about her using medicinal marijuana for her medical condition.

On Ms. Barbuto’s first day of employment, she had to take a drug test. She had to disclose this information once again, but this time, she was fired from her position. The company then told her they go by federal law not the state law of Massachusetts.

The law also says that employers do not have to accommodate marijuana use in the workplace, but it also says nothing about whether employees can forbid it from being used for patients that need it outside the workplace. Therefore, you would think it should not be an issue as this person has a debilitating Gastro related disease and is using it for these medical issues not as a recreational use, as well as the fact that she disclosed this information before being hired by the marketing company.

Ms. Barbuto’s legal team are seizing on a provision in the law that says medical marijuana users cannot be penalize under Massachusetts law or denied any right or privilege because of using medical marijuana.

For some, they dream of being a lawyer, doctor, nurse, accountant, veterinarian or some other prestigious profession. Growing up, my plans changed a lot. I never dreamed of being a writer, until the time came and I found myself really enjoying it.

Years ago, pot was something you did to unwind and hope no one ever found out you were doing it. While I never did it myself, I had plenty of friends tell me they did. Today, it would be considered normal for people to smoke a blunt and call it a day. In fact, there are a few states legalizing marijuana and making it to where you don’t have to worry about whether you are going to get caught smoking a reefer or not.

While many people think that the only people who are going to work in a dispensary are those who enjoy smoking pot 24 hours a day, that isn’t the case. In fact, it takes a significant amount of knowledge and training to be able to work as a certified budtender. If you are someone who has had their share of wacky college days but still have the mature disposition it takes to run a medicinal shop, this might be the perfect job for you.

Selling weed isn’t all about fun and games. It takes a lot of preparation and training to get certified and work in the field.

All kidding aside, this is a real profession that is popping up in different areas where marijuana is being sold to people who truly need the drug to help them cope with a medical condition. For some, it might be cancer, while for others it might be something like a brain tumor. Either way, marijuana has come a long way from what it was 50 years ago during Woodstock. While I am not condoning the use of the drug, everyone is going to make their own decisions based on what they feel is right for their specific situation.

Even though you might be thinking this is the perfect job for you, there are certain requirements that have to be met to work as a certified budtender. You need to go through a training program and pass the test before you are given the certification and allowed to work in the dispensary. With a lot of people already applying for the position, you are sure to have a lot of competition ahead of you.

As more and more states begin to legalize marijuana, it only makes sense that more and more certified budtender positions like this will open up at dispensaries across the region. If this is truly something you are interested in, spend some time checking into it and see if you have what it takes to be successful in the field. Everyone has something they are good at, and you should enjoy your job. If working in a dispensary is something that makes you happy, so be it. In the end, you are the one who has to enjoy what you do and feel confident in the decisions you make in life.

]]>According to modern medical marijuana researchers, the main psychoactive ingredient, Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC for short, has properties that help eliminate tumor growth. Researchers have concluded that THC molecules have many receptors that react with the human brain. Researchers have linked two of these receptors that specifically latch onto tumors and slowly destroy them. These receptors have been studied on both high and low doses of THC, both showing to improve tumor reduction in patients.

What are researchers working on doing right now?

Also, these medical researchers are working on duplicating these powerful receptors. That way, instead of patients taking a potentially lethal dose of a psychoactive compound, researchers plan to create an artificial compound that includes these two receptors, but not the brain empowerment that happens as a result of the drug.

Meanwhile, these scientists continue to encourage others not to use the drug on their own. Some state they the drug may harm some individuals if used incorrectly, and other researchers believe that marijuana could be a harm to these cancer patients as well as a cure. Currently, there are many scientists that conclude that medical marijuana has absolutely no adverse effects; it is not harmful in any way.

However, others conclude that marijuana could be extremely harmful to anyone who comes in contact, regardless of any evidence. At the moment, only positive evidence has been proven to be associated with marijuana.

As marijuana researchers gather evidence and continue to develop an artificial cancer-curing compound, many cancer patients also continue to use this plant on a daily basis, only for compelling, positive results. Some cancer patients have concluded that the use of medicinal marijuana totally reduced their cancer, and stated many improvements including reduction of tumor cells, pain, and other symptoms as well. Marijuana has shown not only to improve results in cancer patients, but also in other diseases and ailments including AIDS and Glaucoma.

What do the studies have to say about using marijuana?

One major study that was done at the University of East Anglia’s school of pharmacy includes breast cancer cells inserted into mice. These mice were then given THC molecules and were studied to find any reduction in the cancer cells. Almost all of the mice eventually showed tumor cell reduction, and these results were utilized.

Another study regarding tumor reduction from medical marijuana includes a study published in the British Journal of Cancer by the department of Biochemistry and molecular biology at the Complutense University of Madrid states the nine human patients with brain tumors were inserted with THC molecules. Out of these nine patients, at least two of them showed a significant decrease in their brain tumors.
